2-3-4 Feb 09

Leaving Hartbeespoort area, direction North to the Pilanesberg National Park We booked accomodation in Bakubung Bush Lodge ('People of the Hippo') which was more than OK.
Britta enjoyed the huge wooden hippo close to the reception
During the 3 days (and one morning game-drive starting at 5am) we saw Rhino, giraffes, many kinds of boks, baboons and 2 elephants the last day.
But no trace of big cats (lion, leopard) or buffalos, but still 15 days left to see them...

A cute baby waterbuck, easy to identify with the "heart-nose"
My favourite : a dung-beetle (this was one was amazing pushing a ball bigger than a tennis ball!)
Thanks to 'not so good weather' on this day, we had the chance to see the hippos outside of the water, enjoyed the company of yellow-billed storks. An other one at a water point.
A grey go-away bird (its 'kweeh' sound is recognised by many other animals as an alarm call) fighting with the wind :-)

Approaching the animals sometimes very close (see the mirror)...
