10 Feb 2009

We spent our 2nd night in Durban, by the parents from one of our south african friend (south-african hospitality is just great).
Out of the city, let's see some hippos and crocs. The best place to see them is the St-Lucia region, about 220kms east from Durban along the coast.

On the way to Durban, we crossed the real Zululand (around the city Eshowe), where the traditions are still existing nowadays, including sorcery...
We stopped at Shakaland, some would say the Zulu Disneyland, where all Zulu traditions and arts are presented. Ok, it's a must for a tourist but nevertheless it was interesting to see the Zulu Dances live.

We finally arrived in St-Lucia early afternoon and directly went to the sandbank where our friends (Hippos & Crocs) were waiting for us...

You can not say that you were not warned...despite of that 4 people were killed by crocos the last 3years in St-Lucia, mostly due to unconsciousness (probably drunk), swimming in the Estuary....

And our friends were there....
Look at the eyes in the water...
After this adrenalin-kick, time to enjoy the sunset...
In prevision to Britta's birthday (on the 11th) we enjoyed a nice seafood plate including lobsters for dinner, "lekker" as the Afrikaans would say...
